Squirrel trapped outside of my door

I live in one of those 'one up, one down' flats so my front door area is boxed in but right at the very top, there's a ledge that sticks out by like 4 inches.

A squirrel has managed to climb right in to it, is clinging there for dear life, hasn't blinked for half an hour, appears to stop breathing periodically, seems like it's in shock or keeps going in to it.

I've gently prodded it with the handle of a brush, either doesn't respond or makes a very sharp movement... I don't want to risk trying to pick it up because due to it's position, I'd really have to reach in and grip the poor thing.

There are no local wildlife charities and the nearest RSPCA branch is shut/still a while away. Also read a few things that they can't even legally help/take in squirrels because of something about them being an alien invasive species?!

Anyway, any advice would be appreciated, feel bad for the thing.
